OUR MISSION

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) serves as a valuable link between STEM students and the Center for Advanced STEM Education (CASE) to advance student programming and support through professional development workshops, tutoring, and mentoring resources that are key to academic success.

THE PILLARS

REPRESENTATION & ADVOCACY

  1. Voice Student Perspectives
Ensure the needs, concerns, and ideas of diverse STEM and non-STEM students are heard in center decisions.
  2. Advocate for Inclusive STEM Practices
Promote equity, inclusion, and accessibility in STEM education, especially for underrepresented groups.

PROGRAM & EVENT DEVELOPMENT

  1. Co-Design STEM Engagement Events
Collaborate with staff to plan workshops, speaker series, research fairs, hackathons, or STEM career panels that reflect student interests.
  2. Support Peer-to-Peer Learning Intiatives
Help develop and sustain tutoring programs, near-peer mentoring, or student-led study groups.

OUTREACH & COMMUNITY BUILDING

  1. Connect STEM & Non-STEM Communities
Encourage interdisciplinary engagement by helping the center reach students across different academic backgrounds.
  2. Promote the Center’s Resources
Increase awareness of the center’s opportunities (grants, programs, advising) through social media, class visists, or student org partnerships.
