As 滄梗l梭 soon start the Fall 24 term and welcome new accounting students, 滄梗r梗 also welcoming a new faculty member, Assistant Professor . We are thrilled to have her join our Accounting Roadrunner Community!

Dr. Dworkis is a Colorado native, though she has lived in Los Angeles, California and Melbourne, Australia before coming back to her home state.When 莽堯梗s not teaching or working on her research, she is living the true Colorado native lifestyle – skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer, and running and swimming all year long.

Studying accounting is like learning a new language, the language of business. It can be challenging, but it can also have a lot of advantages throughout your career. 嗨棗紳t be afraid of it. Learning accounting will pay dividends in many aspects of your life.

Assistant Professor Kelsey Dworkis, PhD, CPA

She was first bit by the accounting bug when she took a summer Principles of Accounting I class. She recalls her professor loudly saying in class for all to hear, If anyone needs help preparing for the second exam, talk to Kelsey since she scored the highest on the first one. She then knew that accounting clicked for her and never looked back!

She earned her bachelors degree in business administration and accountancy at The University of Kansas. After graduation, she was a Senior Auditor at Deloitte and became a CPA. She then earned her PhD at University of Southern California.

Since then, she has taughtmanagerial accounting courses at University of Melbourne and University of Denver. She is fascinated withinfusing psychology principles into accounting research, looking atnarcissism and itseffect on accounting decisions.

Dr. Dworkis' top tips for new accounting students:

  • 嗨棗紳t procrastinate Stay on top of tasks, whether regarding assignments for a class or items at work for a client.
  • Ask questions – While we may not want to have attention on us or are nervous about speaking up, asking questions is key to learning!

Dr. Dworkis will be teaching ACC 1010 Fundamentals of Accounting, ACC 2010 Principles of Accounting I, and ACC 3400 Cost Accounting classes this Fall 24 term. She can’t wait to meet our 91做厙 students, hear泭their stories, and hopefully peak泭their interest in accounting, just like faculty and mentors did for her!
